Board bios

NEIL KAPLAN, Founder and President

Neil has been a voice over actor for more than 20 years in animation, dubbing, audio books, live performance, video games and other fields.  During his varied career, he’s been a theatrical and voice over director as well as a voice over teacher and coach.

Neil is internationally known for his work as Tychus Findlay on Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty and Optimus Prime on the animated television series Transformers: Robots in Disguise, as well as numerous projects in various media.

PETER BARNETT, Vice President

Peter has been a motion picture and television producer for more than 15 years.  He has produced commercials for the U.S. Navy, been a Production Executive for HBO, and was the producer of several television and web series. He is a member of the Producers Guild of America and Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Colonel Barnett served in the Marine Corps for over 26 years, as an Aviator, in Operations, Intelligence and as a recruiting officer.  He has served all over the world and retired in 2009.

LIZ SCHILLER, Treasurer

Liz has been an active volunteer in the nonprofit sector for more than 20 years.  For 15 years, she served in various staff positions in nonprofit organizations, primarily in fundraising.

In addition to the time she gives to ATfOT, Liz currently serves on the board of directors of the Professionals in Human Resources Association (District 4), the Speakers Association for Individual and Financial Education, and Angry Isis Press.

Professionally, Liz works as a financial planner with individuals and small businesses with the firm Retirement Benefits Consulting.  She also does some nonprofit consulting, generally related to establishing new organizations and fundraising.

SHERI REEVES

Sheri has held positions in entertainment and hospitality for more than 20 years. She produced the films “One by One: Death’s Door” and “A Night at the Silent Movie Theater,” as well as documentaries, news, and television in Asia.

Sheri’s media experience includes a background in radio, affiliate television, cable news and production accounting. Sheri was the Director of Business Administration at Shepley Winings Public Relations and was Finance Officer for icandy interactive, a DVD post production house. She’s currently the CFO/COO of the Savvy Traveler, a concierge hospitality agency.

Sheri has an MA in Media Management and an MBA in Marketing from Regent University. She is the daughter of a retired Air Force Master Sergeant and a retired military civil servant.

MICHAEL LENT

Michael is a writer, producer and screenwriting instructor.   Books and graphic novels he has written include On Thin Ice for Disney’s Hyperion, a book based on the popular “Ice Road Truckers” television series; the graphic novel series Prey: Origin of the Species (Marvel Comics); Christmas Letters from Hell (Simon & Schuster); Breakfast with Sharks, a guide to the business side of screen writing (Random House); and Brimstone, a soon-to-be-released western/horror graphic novel.  He has written or produced five movies and was a writer on the video games Vigilante 8: Arcade (Xbox 360 Live) and the upcoming SCAPS Agent.

Michael has taught or lectured at UCLA, the University of Miami, Chapman University, Santa Barbara City College, Sherwood Oaks Experimental College and the International Screenwriters’ Expo.

Michael is a member of the Writers Guild of America, the Authors Guild of America, the Science Fiction Writers Guild of America, and the Comic Book Artists Guild.  He continues to be an active volunteer with the Alameda Writers Group, the Comic Book Heroes Initiative, and the Grandview Children’s Center.
